The complete Unova regional dex: 156 species, National Dex 494 (Victini) through 649 (Genesect). Type names into the box and each one lands in its section.
This is the biggest single generation ever released, and the one people underestimate most.
156 species and not one older Pokemon among them: Unova is the only generation whose regional dex is entirely new. That is what makes it hard — there is no familiar half to fall back on.
When the clock runs out, or when you give up, every Pokemon you missed is revealed in its section.
Questions people ask
- How many Pokemon are in the Unova dex?
- 156 — every Generation V species, National Dex 494 (Victini) through 649 (Genesect). That is the count this quiz uses, and it matches the regional dex rather than any one game's ordering.
- Can I change the timer?
- Yes. Pick 3, 5, 10 or 15 minutes before you start, or choose Count up — that mode has no limit and the clock stops the moment you get the last one, so it doubles as a speedrun timer. Your choice is remembered for next time.
- Do I have to press Enter?
- No. Every answer is taken the moment you finish spelling it and the box clears itself, so you can type straight through a run without touching Enter. Names that begin another name are handled too: type “niger” and Niger counts immediately, then carry on with “ia” — or just type “nigeria” in one go — and Nigeria counts as well.
- Does spelling have to be exact?
- Capitals, spaces, hyphens, punctuation and accents are all ignored, so “Jellicent”, “Type: Null” style colons and any capitals are all ignored. There is no Enter to press — an answer counts the instant you finish spelling it.
- Why is the Unova dex so big?
- Generation 5 introduced 156 new species, more than any other generation, and the original Black and White games deliberately showed no older Pokemon before the credits. The regional dex and the new-species list are the same 156.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to install, no ads in the way of the board. Your best score is kept in your own browser and never leaves your device.
