How to play
Type your name and create a room, then send the invite link to your friends. When everyone is in, the host starts the round. Each player sees the category; all but one also see the word.
Take turns adding one line each to the drawing, in your own colour. Draw enough to show you know the word, but not so much that the fake can work it out. After everyone has drawn, talk it over in the chat and vote. Catch the fake artist and every artist scores. Miss, and the fake scores, with a chance to guess the word for more.
Questions people ask
- How do you play Fake Artist?
- Everyone is told a category, and everyone except one player is told the word. Players take turns adding one line each to the same drawing, twice round the table. Then you talk it over and vote for the player you think was faking. Catch them and the artists win. Miss, and the fake artist wins, and gets a guess at the word on top.
- How many players do I need?
- At least three, and it is best with four to eight. Everyone plays on their own phone or computer in the same room code, so you can play together on a call or around a table.
- What if I'm the fake artist?
- You see the category but not the word. Watch the first lines closely, add something that could belong to whatever it is, and act as sure as everyone else. If they vote for someone else, you get one guess at the word.
- Can strangers join my room?
- Only if you choose Anyone when you create it. A room set to Friends with the link is not listed anywhere; only people with the code can join.
- Can I draw more than one line on my turn?
- No. Your turn is one line: put your finger or mouse down, draw, and let go. That is the whole challenge, for the artists as much as for the fake.
